Meet Alyse Scura-Mohammed
Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, and finding the right therapist is an important part of that journey. My goal is to provide a supportive, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to create meaningful change.
For more than 22 years, I have worked in the fields of mental health and intellectual and developmental disabilities across a wide range of settings, including schools, residential treatment programs, group homes, healthcare organizations, project management, leadership, and private practice. These diverse experiences have given me a deep understanding of the unique challenges individuals face throughout different stages of life.
I earned my undergraduate degree from SUNY Plattsburgh and completed graduate studies at Teachers College, Columbia University, earning dual master’s degrees in Counseling Psychology and Mental Health Counseling. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York and have advanced training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Autism Spectrum Disorder/Neurodiversity and Positive Psychology.
Throughout my career, I have served as a clinician, clinical supervisor, clinical director, executive healthcare leader, project manager, and private practice owner. These experiences have strengthened my belief that every person deserves compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to their individual goals and circumstances.
In my practice, I work with adolescents, teens and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic illness, life transitions, stress, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, and emotional dysregulation. I believe therapy is a collaborative process that builds on your strengths while providing practical tools to help you navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and resilience.
Whether you’re seeking support during a difficult season or looking to better understand yourself and create lasting change, I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing, growth, and purpose.
Having served in executive leadership while maintaining a clinical practice, I understand firsthand the pressures of balancing professional responsibility, personal well-being, and life’s many demands. I enjoy helping professionals, healthcare workers, and individuals navigating stress, burnout, and major life transitions reconnect with their values and build fulfilling, meaningful lives.
